You are cordially invited to the festive opening of our ROYAL GALLERY EXHIBITION of October 2010:

 MAARTJE JAQUET – PHOTOGRAPHY & POETRY



A crow hiding in a garbage bag, a snow owl on a barrier gate, a tiger in concrete fur, two pieces of scaffolding making love in the same loud way as giant tortoises do. That’s what Maartje Jaquet sees on her walks through town, her camera in her pocket. In a couple of years she collected a large number of these Amsterdam urban animals. ‘Ready mades’ like in ‘Dada’, but with a twist. Untouched. What she sees is what you get. But there is plenty of room for your own imagination. Poetic and full of humor. Small and vulnerable, but also strong and with unexpected depth.

Jaquet put together a book with her favorite photos, to which she wrote poetry (both in English and in Dutch).
